Image of the Care Van LogoThe Speaker's Annual Golf Tournament aims to raise more than money.  It aims to raise awareness about the importance of childhood immunizations.

One-in-four children living in Texas go without the immunizations necessary to lead healthy, happy lives due to a lack of affordability and access to medical care.

Immunizations are one of the most direct, simple and least expensive ways to build healthier futures for medically underserved families in Texas.

The Speaker's Annual Golf tournament benefits the Caring for Children Foundation of Texas and helps support the Care Van Program that provides access to immunizations for medically uninsured and underserved children of Texas.

This year the golf tournament raised more than $225,000 for the Caring for Children Foundation Care Van Program. The 288 players and 30 volunteers helped to make this year a huge success.

Since its inception, the Caring for Children Foundation of Texas Care Van Program and its statewide sponsor Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, have screened more than 240,000 children and provided more than 389,000 free or low cost immunizations.

The fleet of specifically customized mobile immunization Care Vans travel around Texas to schools, churches, restaurants and community events to provide needed medical attention for at-risk families.
